FrontierVille Jackalope Society Missions: Everything you need to know

After teasing us with these yesterday, FrontierVille has finally released a new series of goals called the Jackalope Society Missons. These missions are a little different than others because if you complete these, you will unlock the new FrontierVille Badge system, which will reward you for your regular in-game activity. And, who doesn't want a little recognition for their efforts?

So, to unlock those stinkin' Badges, you'll need to finish all four of the Jackalope Society missions. Here's a look at what you'll need to do to get the job done:

Mission #1: Jackalope Society Initiation

Master the Prized Pigs

Are you ready to pig out? Because it's time to go whole hog. Okay, okay. We'll stop with the pig puns. So listen up, party people. Get ready for the Prized Pigs coming this evening.

Here's how Prized Pigs work. For three days only, you can send pigs to your mafia and request pigs from your mafia. There are 3 Prized Pigs to collect with a new pig being released each day. Request pigs by posting a Facebook feed or send requests to your mafia.

Each Prized Pig has 3 levels of mastery - bronze, silver, and gold. When you collect enough pigs to complete mastery, you earn some sweet high-powered items to get stronger. Collect all the pigs for Gold Mastery to get the grand prize Oinker Vehicle (100 ATT, 128 DEF). Get ready for pigs and play Mafia Wars now.

Properties Get Free Upgrade This Weekend

Two words in the English language that always bring a smile to our faces: Free upgrade.

This weekend only, any of your properties in any city will get one free upgrade. Save your reward points for some sick limited edition loot and step up your Chop Shop, Weapons Depot, Vegas casino and other properties starting at 12:01 AM PDT/7:01 AM GMT Saturday. You get to upgrade only one property one time for the entire weekend. This event ends Sunday at 11:59 PM PDT/6:59 AM GMT.

Managing properties is an essential part of growing your criminal empire. You earn money from properties in all cities. You also can collect boosts from Bangkok properties and pick up extra energy and stamina from building items in your New York Chop Shop and Weapons Depot.

You can even help your mafia make money. The more stars your Casino Slots has, the more money your friends can win when they play your slots and vice versa. You can play your mafia's slots by clicking the slot machine icon below a friend's name under the "My Mafia" section on the main page.

Make sure to check out your properties this weekend. We know you love free upgrades, too. Play Mafia Wars now!

Mafia Wars Launches the Loyalty Program

Don Corleone: Do I have your loyalty?

Peter Clemenza: Yes, always Godfather.

                         - The Godfather, 1972

We may shoot, fight, and rob people, but if there's one thing we pride ourselves on in the mafia it's loyalty. Today Mafia Wars launched the Loyalty Program for our users to receive special perks like discounts, exclusive items, front-of-the-line access to customer support, and invitations.

The new program has several tiers: Emerald, Gold, and Platinum. You will earn loyalty points (LP) as you play more or spend more. You earn LP when you purchase reward points, play Mafia Wars, or click on Mafia Wars feeds and requests that your friends post to offer you bonuses.

You start as an Emerald Player or with a more elite status depending on your loyalty to Mafia Wars. You can achieve a higher status and earn better privileges the more you spend or the more you play.

We currently released the Loyalty Program to a small percentage of our users. Later this week we will roll out this feature to everyone when we can ensure a smooth transition. We value your loyalty as a Mafia Wars fan and are thrilled to provide you with the privileges and rewards you deserve. Play Mafia Wars now!

Latest New York Property: The Armory

The Armory is coming late Thursday and it's dropping a lot of good-looking armor. As Barney Stinson would tell you, it's time to suit up.

The Armory is the newest property that makes awesome stuff for you to increase your fighting power. The Armory will appear next to your Chop Shop and Weapons Depot and churn out everything from plastic leggins to full body armor.

Your Armory functions much like your Chop Shop and Weapons Depot to help you fight stronger. Along with power boosts, you have four types of fighting forces - Weapons, Armor, Vehicles, and Animals.

Your Weapons Depot makes weapons. Your Chop Shop makes Vehicles. And now your Armory builds armor for you to take to battle. (You can currently get Animals by having friends gift them to you.) You can build a new item once a day in these three New York properties.

It's going to take some effort to build a kick-ass Armory. The only way to build an Armory is with construction parts. You can either spend reward points to build it or ask friends to send you parts. Parts will not drop from doing jobs or fighting rivals the way the Chop Shop and Weapons Depot do. The Armory has ten levels and makes more powerful arsenal each time you upgrade a level.

Look out for your newest New York property tonight. It's time to armor up and head into the fray.

Would You Buy 2 Skill Points for V$12,715,000?

When I saw the animal that you could purchase in Vegas - the Desert Spider (31/18), I was underwhelmed with its stats. If you're even IN Las Vegas, you hopefully already loaded up on Vipers, Kraits, and Xiamen Tigers in Bangkok, or the purchaseable animals that appeared in Cuba, New York, and Moscow when Animals became a separate category. Same with the Weapons you had to buy in Vegas to do jobs: their stats would rank them in your top 501 items.----Today, I stumbled upon a reason you may want to own two of those items, or at least own them for a few minutes. Mafia Wars has added Achievements here and there with Vegas and I had totally missed two of them that you can literally purchase with Vegas money. At this stage, if you have a 4- or 5-star vault and about $V25,000,000 sitting in it, try this:---- Buy 50 Desert Spiders. It will cost you (for now) V$17,500,000. You'll see this screen...

Lotto Ticket Prize Strategy

With Daily Chance tickets, I've always saved up 6 and cashed them in for "up to 5 Reward Points." The other available prizes - a collection item, 1 or 2 more Daily Chance tickets, or a one-time energy or stamina boost, seemed to pale in comparison.

The Daily Take

is a nice feature I've noticed over the past month on Mafia Wars. It rewards daily play, and is the only place I seem to be able to find keys to open Gold Treasure Chests anymore. The reward gets better each day - starting from a Rack of Chips in Vegas on day 1, through a Gold Key on day 6 and five attack points on day 7. Not sure if all 7 prizes are exactly the same each week, but they improve each day. A very nice touch by Zynga, in conjunction with the Daily Mystery Reward on the Home screen, which you earn just by CLICKING all 5 "checklist" items (Recruits, Messages, etc).

Frontierville Promo - Bowie Knife

I'm still stung by the end of Zynga's Poker-Mafia Wars promo, but I saw this promo for Zynga's game, Frontierville. You can score a nice weapon from some limited play on Frontierville, no commitments required. Complete a few levels for the Bowie Knife (31/58).
If you don't see this pop up, the promotion can be accessed at the top of your home screen next to the Lucky Stash icon. Of course, Zynga hopes that you'll become as addicted to Frontierville as you already are to Mafia Wars... but that's just not possible, is it?

I don’t know about you but one of my favorite parts of any casino is the restaurant. Well, is suppose I should say the restaurants because most real world casinos have multiple restaurants catering to all price ranges. You can go to the buffets, which are a smorgasbord of everything that you can think of or a five star extravaganza where you are waited on hand and foot like you are a king.

Mafia wars Las Vegas keeps the look and feel of the top casinos on the strip alive with the realism of owning your own restaurant.

Have you ever been to one of the mega-casinos that litter the strip in Las Vegas? How about one of the other gambling spots around the world? Well for those of you that have not let me tell you that they are truly spectacular. The mega-casinos are much more than just a gambling den they are actually small cities.

The developers kept it in mind that in order to be the cash cows that they are, these casinos must cater to every need of their patrons. Since the goal is to keep the player inside the casino at all times it only made sense to provide a place for them to sleep off a hard day of gambling. To do this every mega-casino also has a very nice hotel attached.

Your casino in Mafia Wars Las Vegas is no different than a real world casino in this respect. Your hotel gives you yet another stream of income and believe me, it’s a pretty big stream.

Here is everything that you need to know about your casino.

Mafia Wars Las Vegas – Cash Flow With Your Own Casino Fountain

18
Sep/100If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

One of the most beautiful spectacles that you will see on the strip in Las Vegas are the water shows that the big mega-casinos use to attract attention. You can visit the Bellagio, the Paris, and other casinos in Las Vegas have the top water fountains in the world. You will be mesmerized as you learn that water really can dance.

The main thought of these fountains is not to beautify the strip, its money. Believe me there is money in water when it is used properly to entrance the public. Las Vegas is a city that is smack dab in the middle of a desert and in a desert water is a precious commodity. No business owner would use water to enthrall the tourists in the middle of a desert unless there was money to be made.

The Bellagio does not have anything on your Mafia Wars Las Vegas casino. Your fountain is just as big and just as enthralling, and the money flows just the same.

This is what you will need to open and improve your casino fountain and how much money will flow.

To unlock your Casino Fountain you will need to complete the job

Mafia Wars Prized Pigs: Everything you need to know

Zynga made mention of this mysterious Prized Pigs event in Mafia Wars last week, but the Mafia Wars Blog just gave us the skinny on just how this event will go down. Prized Pigs will only be around for three days starting today, according to the Mafia Wars Blog, and if you want the Oinker Vehicle with 100 Attack and 128 Defense, you'll have to collect a lot of piglets. Fortunately, there's more to win here than just the pig-mobile.

Each day a new pig will be released that players can gift to their friends and vise versa, which is the only way to receive these items (no Reward Point option here, you affluent folk). Each pig received will count towards a mastery total with the highest being Gold Mastery. Bronze Mastery for each Prized Pig rewards a brand new item with Silver and Gold offering stronger versions of that item. Check behind the cut for a list of of the three little piggies (we're sensing a trend here) and what you'll get for collecting them all.

FishVille Galapagos Theme bringing Darwin's best to your tank soon

You'll soon enough be swept away to the Galapagos Islands in FishVille with a slew of new items, fish and a seal (?), Zynga announced today. While details are scant on what will be included in this update, we hope to see lots of rare creatures and, dare I say, turtles.

Unfortunately, this also means out with the old and in with the new. We'll soon be saying goodbye to the Phosphorus Jungle items, so try to buy them all now if you want to keep the luminescent legacy alive. Oh, and one more thing: we told you so.

Mafia Wars Blowin' Up!

So what's this event ", A Real Armored Truck, That Is..." all about? What does blowing up mean? You will have to wait and see. Check the counter on the top of the screen to see how close we are to reaching 10 million players.

Well, Zynga will blow up Las Vegas when 10 million players play on the city.  And we can play this event straight on www.mafiawars.com when it reaches 10 million.

And here are the prizes Zynga is offering for this event, as noted on their FAQ page. How to win $25,000? You get 1 entry into the drawing when you visit Las Vegas and an additonal entry for each member of
your mafia that visits. A valid email address is required for entry.
How to win an iPad?You get 1 entry into the drawing when you visit Las Vegas and an additional entry for each member of your mafia that visits each week. For example, if 10 members of your Mafia visit Las Vegas from Monday through Sunday. You get 11 entries into the weekly drawing - one for you and 10 from each of
your mafia members. A valid email address is required for entry.
Let's wait and see...  Related Posts : Mafia Wars Las Vegas, mafia wars updatesPosted byRosana Olalde

A Mafia Wars Love Story

John Sweeney was just looking to join a Mafia Wars clan to fight other clans. What happened next took him completely by surprise.

John joined the Mafia Wars Dark Angels in March 2009 and worked closely with Joanne to grow their alliance and strengthen their clan to go to battle. Facebook chats turned into emails that led to hours on the phone as the two made preparations to go to war with another Mafia Wars clan.

UPDATE: How the Armory Works

Here's a short tutorial to clear up confusion about how the new Armory in New York Properties work.

1. Once you have built your Armory with construction parts, you can make random armor in your Armory with armor parts.

Las Vegas District 5: Mojave Desert

Since I have been getting a lot of e-mails on Episode 5 (and one topic in particular), I decided to skip over Episode 4 for now and cut right to the chase.

People want to know: how do I beat 'Red' Jackson on Ruby level?

A reader named Al shared his strategy with me for beating her:

Make sure your Top Mafia are good fighting characters. Do not use weak top mafia members (i.e. energy accounts). Test this out by attacking the boss once and seeing if you survive. If you are able to survive one round, you are good to go. If not, find some tougher top mafia members!

1. Load up with Shivs, Stun Guns, and Grenades (10 of each).

2. Attack the boss, and attack her one round.

3. If you survive (your top mafia members should be almost dead but not quite), proceed to step 4. If not, heal up and try again.

4. Use all of your Grenades.

5. Use all of your Stun guns.

6. Use all of your Shivs.

7. Attack until you die.

8. Re-arm with shivs, grenades, and stun guns. You need pretty much all 10 grenades and all 10 stun guns to make a re-attack worthwhile.

9. Repeat this process a few times (could take up to 5 rounds). The boss will heal some but if you are quick and do not leave Las Vegas it is doable. You may need energy packs and even have to spend reward points on energy in order to collect more items.

--

The Shivs really do go a long way towards defeating this particular boss. Each Shiv will hit the boss for about 40 damage, so you can knock off 400 of her 6,000 HP by using your Shivs. After you use all the Grenades, it will still take 5-8 stun guns to kill off all her helpers, depending on your strength. This only leaves you to get a few hits on her.

You really need some good attack strength in order to dent her HP. It can be really tough with an energy account and take you a lot of rounds to win. With a fighting account, it is just as tough if not harder because it is really hard to collect all the items you will need to take her down with a small energy pool!

With that said, for killing 'Red' Jackson you get her Motorcycle. Here are the stats:

Bronze: 107 attack, 73 defense
Silver: 120 attack, 92 defense
Gold: 138 attack, 105 defense
Ruby: 162 attack, 140 defense

In the Las Vegas expansion Zynga moved away from conventional thinking in regard to how cash is stored. Previously your bank could hold any amount of cash but in Las Vegas the amount of cash you can store is dependant upon the size of your vault.

With the Las Vegas expansion Zynga installed one of the best improvements that I have seen in quite some time. Now you can convert the currency from the basic game and any of the expansions into chips to use in your new casino empire. The exchange is one way, you cannot convert the currency into anything except chips and it cannot be converted back.

Since the capacity of your vault determines how many chips it can hold you need to improve it regularly if you are any kind of real mobster. Here is a quick list of what is needed to improve your vault.

Zynga Germany: What does this new Euro studio mean for FarmVille?

In the next phase of the Zynga Dominion Initiative (kidding, sort of), the social gaming titan behind FarmVille has acquired Dextrose, a Mainz-based German gaming technology company that developed the Aves engine, for an undisclosed amount. The company, now officially Zynga Germany, has used Aves to help other developers create web browser games with high-end graphics, something Zynga will most likely use to improve its games.

However, it's unknown whether Facebook can support the Aves engine. Zynga cryptically said that Dextrose would help the company bring the "best in next-generation gaming technology." It's doubtful that Zynga would buy a company like Dextrose without researching if Facebook can support its engine.

Zynga Germany will be based in Frankfurt and headed by chief technology officer Paul Bakaus, the founder of Dextrose, while co-founder Rocco Di Leo will serve as country manager for Zynga's European arm. First China, then Japan and now Europe? Who's next, Canada?

Happy Pets iPad Giveaway Sweepstakes: Every Dragon is a chance to win an iPad

Between now and October 8, every Dragon you buy in Happy Pets will enter you for a chance to win one Apple iPad or one of 10 iPod Nanos in the Happy Pets iPad Giveaway Sweepstakes. Considering the short sale on Dragons a few days ago, its as if CrowdStar can't give these creatures away. It's probably due to the fire hazards that come with the purchase these flame-belchers.

Each Dragon can be bought for 66 Facebook Credits, or $6.60 USD (why can't all currency conversions be this easy?). Unfortunately, you'll also need to have a Dino Den to house the whelps, so get to it, if you haven't already. Besides, who wouldn't want a dragon?

Will you be entering the Happy Pets iPad Giveaway Sweepstakes? Which Dragon is your favorite? Let us know in the comments. Add Comment.

The program was released to a small percentage of users and will roll out to everyone to ensure a smooth transition. Related Posts : mafia wars updatesPosted byRosana Olalde

It's Raining Loot

Before I post the Las Vegas District 7 and 8 loot - and some observations about Zynga (pro and con) - have you noticed a SERIOUS upswing in the loot that (i) your friends are finding and sharing and (ii) that you can find on jobs, when you get your choice of three items to choose from and share the one you pick? I don't mean the Secret Stashes, where you notify a friend, or vice versa, and you get - or never get - an item. I mean the screen where, after you do a job, you are shown three items and can pick one, and share it (the flip side being, on your friend feed, it would say "Kill Screen Philly has found a stash of stash of .22 Pistols! Hurry, there are only five remaining." And you'd think, gee, thanks for SHARING your 2-attack weapon.
A week ago, I was turning away the entire panel of Lucky Shamrock Medallions, Armored Car, and Pair of Brass Knuckles - useful on the earliest levels of New York only, and a waste of newsfeed for all to share. Even when I selected a consumable, like an Untraceable Cell or a Buzzsaw hoping to gift them later, I wouldn't share - didn't want to clog my newsfeed with low-level consumables.
Then... BAM... one day I saw a Plasma Rifle (40, 47) as one of my choices. THE Plasma Rifle? The top level Weapons Depot build? Yep (but, as with a trade, without the attendant 5 defense points). All of a sudden I was seeing Day 2K Riders. Then...various Easter Eggs. St. Patrick's Day items, and Soccer Balls from collections long gone. A friend posted a stash of... RAILGUNS. It was like a dream you'd have about Mafia Wars stashes on steroids.
Seems that Zynga - in different ways - is breathing some life into a part of the game that had become all but useless for higher level players. Granted, one Plasma Rifle is not going to have you winning the Heavyweight World Championship - but the stash is certainly worth sharing so that newer player can get an item they might not yet have built their Chop Shops or Weapons Depots high enough to build themselves (and let me know when you are so high and mighty that you don't need Plasma Rifles... oh.... you've been playing Vegas District 8, I see!). Still, in any socila media game, it's always a nice - and smart - move to do something that motivates newer players yet doesn't punish the elders.
And bringing back the old collections - St. Patrick's Day, Easter Eggs, and Soccer Balls? A great move, for those who didn't finish those time-limited collection.... and for those who did and now have good trade lots. Not sure that all 7 of each collection will be available, but it gives players more incentive to work towards completing a collection they've missed - even if only for completion's sake. MW had briefly made one of the Valentine's Day items a free giveaway, but this is like bringing the live collection back... and giving you reason to play anew.
My verdict on the new high-level item "stash" drops from jobs? Thumbs up.

Las Vegas Districts 7 and 8 - Loot and Strategy

Impressively, Zynga got two new districts of Vegas up just as the first people were finishing District 6 (which itself was an add-on). Let's start with the new loot in Districts 7 and 8, and then some ideas on mastering them.
District 7 - Area 51
X-22 Peregrine (53/24) - vehiclePitbull Sentry Gun (28, 52) - weaponPronghorn Antelope (21, 53) - animalAres Power Armor (33, 58) - armorFoo Fighter (37, 60) - vehicle (hard to find)Diamondback (56, 48) - animal (also a District 6 drop item)
Boss Item - Experimental Exosuit - armor (149, 90) for bronze through (185, 106) for Ruby
District 8 - Hoover Dam
Hopped Up Thug (56, 18) - armorCooling Vest (31, 61) - armorArcturiuon Assault Rifle (59, 27) - weaponRipper Assault Rifle (57, 30) - weaponBalista Missle Launcher (62, 15) - vehicleBighorn (26, 64) - animalAmphiquad (58, 24) - vehicle
Boss Item - Halloran's Helicopter - vehicle (90, 145) for bronze...
-----
A few thoughts here:
1. Halloran's Helicopter - even at bronze - will immediately be your top defensive vehicle. The boss - Governor Halloran - gets stronger and harder to injure as you go.
2. Experimental Exosuit - even at bronze - will immediately be your top offensive armor. The boss - Dr. Hank Williams - has two henchmen. LOAD UP ON STUN GUNS. You will find yourself using 6 to kill the henchmen alone on the Ruby level.
3. These are some serious stats for drop loot! Would you ever play in Cuba or Moscow again for loot? With attack and defense stats in the 50s and into the 60s, even Bangkok high end loot (BHEL, to use the trading group lingo) will drop on your rankings...
4. ...except that Vegas high end loot (VHEL) is not - readily - tradeable. You can't gift it, as you can with a Royal Thai Marine, or add it to your Wishlist through other MW websites. Though some people apparently are doing it...
5. For the energy jobs on Distrcits 7 and 8, you will need TONS of three items from earlier Districts in Vegas: Hot Tips (D2), Alarm Codes (D3), and Hotel Security Key Cards (D4). I mean TONS. This is like Bangkok on steroids when you needed Untraceable Cells for a few levels and then Satellite Phones forever. If you've already finished Ruby level on the lower Vegas Districts, you'll see that acquiring ONE such item requires up to 108 energy points. And District 7's final energy job requires ONE OF EACH (of alarm code, hotel key) - and get 2% mastery per job - so your "cover charge" for each job is 165 energy points just for the "tools" you'll need to do the final job in District 7, which itself is 144 energy. Total retail price for that ONE job? 15,450 energy points. So be patient.
One reader below commented on a strategy I've used in Vegas that I

Mountain Lions in Bollywood

It's Mafia Wars, so what more fitting cinematic reference can we have than to the opening THE GODFATHER, when Don Corleone was asked to do a favor - and happily did it - asking in return only that someday, when HE asked for a favor, he not be turned down.
Tonight I'm going to do you a favor (even though you didn't ask, and I'm not Marlon Brando)... and at the end I'll ask you to do me a favor (I can't leave a horse's head in your bed if you refuse me, and no, it's not a donation request).
Now for the 4 Vegas Collections - these were a nice addition to Las Vegas, as we had been accustomed to every city having its own series of collections. Vegas was the first location where all of the collections and their items can be obtained in any District.
The 4 Vegas-themed collections are Matchbooks (commemorating almost-real casinos), Cactus (from the surrounding desert), Mojave Desert Animals, and Poker Hands. As withother collections, you need 7 items to vault the collection and get the reward.
And these are some good rewards:

Pet Society's Lady Paw Paw Veggie Meat Dress: Flesh has never looked so good

Remember when Lady Gaga wore almost nothing but meat to the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards? No (how could you not)? Well, Playfish remembers and to commemorate her insanity genius, they'll include this Lady Paw Paw Veggie Meat Dress into the game if the post gets 50,000 "Likes."

As of this writing, the post on the Pet Society Facebook page only has about 4,500 "Likes." So, get to sharing the ridiculous news if you want to see this hilarity make it into your game. And so the Lady Gaga Parody Wars begin.

Do you want to see this make it into Pet Society? What ridiculous Lady Gaga parodies will Playfish or any other social game developer come up with next? Tell us in the comments. Add Comment.
